Restriction of Contact Information
What's the new* rule?
You can only post off‑site contact info (Telegram, email, Discord, etc.) in:
- Your signature
- The opening post of your Sales Thread
- DMs
Anywhere else = not allowed.
Why the new rule?
- We're hoping to reduce the number of disputes involving the misuse of outside contact information.
- People were using outdated, publicly shared contact info.
- Community have been repeatedly asked for stricter rules around restricting Telegram/off‑site contact information.
What’s allowed
✔ Contact info in the first post of a Sales Thread
✔ Contact info in Signatures
✔ Contact info in DMs (must not be unsolicited)
What’s NOT allowed
✘ Posting your Telegram/email/etc in replies
✘ Posting it in thread bumps
✘ Asking sellers to contact you on Telegram
✘ Putting contact info in profile “About,” avatars, posts, or metadata
✘ Hidden/subliminal contact info
If it’s not in your signature, the opening post of your sales thread or a DM, don't post it.
Information for Marketplace sellers
Only the opening post of a sales thread may contain contact details or external links (including landing pages). All later replies must not include any contact info, URLs, or links—whether clickable, plain text, or inside images—and you cannot quote your opening post to bypass the rule. The only exceptions in later posts are educational resources and credible citation links, as long as they don’t contain your contact details. A link to your BHW DM is allowed in the opening post and subsequent replies, and linking back to your opening post is permitted. Note: All old sales threads (live prior to the effective date of the new rule) remain grandfathered in.
Enforcing the new rule
A warning will be issued if users post outside contact information where it isn't allowed, as with any breach of our Terms of Use.
